Riviera | Begin here. An artisan bakery and café where Danish baking meets the Italian table. Breakfast travels south without leaving the city, and the room sets the pace for the rest of the day. Laura recommends the bun with butter and cheese (BMO) or egg sandos.
Ara'kai Beauty | A pause from the city, taken properly. Skincare and wellness as a form of care rather than a routine. Their pantry next door is a small café in its own right, and a fitting place to land afterwards.
MITH.CPH | A shop that resists easy description. Best known for its rattan pieces, but the sensibility runs through everything on the shelves. Considered objects in a considered space. Worth a long pause and a chat with the kind owner, Majken, on the way to lunch.
Slurp Ramen Joint | A short menu done properly. Laura's order is the shoyu ramen with an extra tamago egg. Two locations in Indre By, both highly recommendable. The kind of lunch that settles the afternoon, and makes Laura dream of her honeymoon to Japan.
Ny Carlsberg Glyptoteket | A reminder that Copenhagen can also be Mediterranean. Sculpture under a glass dome, palm trees in the winter garden, Impressionists in rooms the size of living rooms. Stay for the café.
Thorvaldsens Museum (and Slotsholmen) | A building made in honour of one artist, and all the stronger for it. The colour of the walls is worth the visit alone. Step outside and you are on Slotsholmen, the small island at the heart of the city, where Christiansborg Palace, the Royal Library, and centuries of Danish history sit side by side. An afternoon that carries itself.
Ésmée | Dinner. A restaurant with the feeling of a living room that someone has thought about for a long time. A glass, a long conversation, and an evening that feels shorter than it is. Laura's favourites include the snacks, the green salad, and a soft serve to finish.
